NHS Nightingale Hospital - A Nightingale to the Rescue

The NHS Nightingale Hospital in UK is set to open by he end of the week. The converted hospital is a much needed resource in the UK's fight against Corona Virus. The NHS Nightinhgale Hospital is to help increase NHS capacity to deal with the Corona Virus. The impact of the Corona Virus is as yet unknown. A lot will depend on the public's cooperation. Social distancing, increased hyiegenic awareness will reduce the impact to a significant extent. If these are not followed to the maximum level, no amount of preparedness could help. Hence the NHS constant appeal to the public.

The NHS hospital has been opened the Excel london centre in East London, an erstwhile London Olympics venue. Its symbolic that infrastructure built for showcasing the premier global talent can be used used so significantly to fight a global epidemic. The hospital will draw medical care personnel from all across the med care spectrum. As per a BBC report as many at 16000 personnel will be directly fighting the virus and saving patients at the Nightingale.

The military engineers with civil contractors have worked handed in hand to prapare the hospital in record time.

Animal Crossing New Horizons - What to Expect

Nintendo has released it Animal Crossing New Horizons and it is available online now. The Switch release of Animal Crossings New Horizon is seing some huge sales figues. Eurogamer.net reports that it has sold 1.88 million physical copies in just 3 days! thats some sales. It has even beaten Pokemon's Sworld and Shield record!

The best thing about the game as per what I have read so far is its idyllic pace. No hurry routines and calm processes. Its not a Far Cry or the Shooting games. Maybe thats why it is so ppopular.

In these days of fear and uncertainty, people, esp kids, want a simple game, maybe. That is more related to nature.

The US Department of Labor in its guidelines has made effort to protect the employees and their UI in the time of Covid 19. Employees can claim unployment Insurance benefits by Federal law if - their employer ceases operartions due to Covid outbreak which prevents employees from coming to work; due to quarantine; or if an employee leaves a job due to risk of exposure or to care for a family member. 

However those already receiving sick leave pay may not be eligible for UI.

Who is Betty White - She Celebrates her 98th Birthday

Betty White is a popular Actress who just turned 98. She is a "Golden Girl". The actress known for her comic timing and a popular game show host, has also 7 Emmy nominations for lead Actress in a Comedy Series.

The classic comedy Golden Girls ran for 180 episodes on NBC over 7 seasons. Betty White starred as Rose Nylund in the series. White has starred in many other popular shows like Boston legal, the Bold and the Beautiful and even hosted the SNL  (Saturday Night Live) when she was all of 88 years,  after a hugely popular facebook campaign by her fans. She has appeared in an extremely popular Mars commercial "you are not you when you are hungry".

Funny, acerbic, thoroughly contemporary while still retaining her old world charm she is  always a joy to watch and never boring.

Here's to continued good health to Betty! I am a huge fan of hers.

Major Sports Events 2019

2019 is halfway through but there arr still some really good sporting events coming up.

21st June was a sporting day of a different kind. The longest Day of the year was celebrated by Google with a doodle too. And meanwhile all over the world people were contorting themselves into various forms to celebrate the ancient sport / meditation technique / new age fitness mantra of yoga. Yes the longest day of the year also the world Yoga Day.

The cricket world cup is at an interesting stage with Sri Lanka beating the favourites England in a low scoring game. The Wimbledon comes up from 1st July, then there is the Tour de France and the British Leg of the Formula 1 all in July.
