The US Department of Labor in its guidelines has made effort to protect the employees and their UI in the time of Covid 19. Employees can claim unployment Insurance benefits by Federal law if - their employer ceases operartions due to Covid outbreak which prevents employees from coming to work; due to quarantine; or if an employee leaves a job due to risk of exposure or to care for a family member.
However those already receiving sick leave pay may not be eligible for UI.
