FB just managed to trade around its IPO price thanks to support by its bankers Morgan Stanley during its opening 18 months back. However its up by almost 25% since its listing.

Both the companies seem to be valued on expectation of future performance via user engagement and targeted ads (FB), promoted tweets (Twitter).
Twitter is yet to be profitable but the response to the IPO shows that investors believe in its high growth projections.
